The UPS along with the Faculty offers many awards and subsidies to students for involvement in extracurricular activities. The list below only contains the awards and subsidies in which UPS is involved with, but is not a fully exhaustive list of all the awards offered by the Faculty. Note that these awards are different from the awards based on UPS Points which are given out at UPS Awards Night. To see awards based on UPS Points, please login to your UPS Points account.
Alumni Undergraduate Award
The Alumni Undergraduate Award recognizes one student from each class that fits the following criteria:
- Is in first, second or third year
- Based on their involvement in student activities and contributions to the student body
- Meets the minimum annual GPA requirement for this award of 2.7 (Second Class Honours)
Deadline: March 12th, 2021 at 11:59pm

UPS Award
The UPS Award recognizes one student from each class that fits the following criteria:
- Is in first, second, third or fourth year
- Has made a significant contribution to undergraduate life in the Faculty over the past year and who has not held a position on UPS or Class Council in that year.

8T0 Award
The 8T0 Award recognizes one student from the third year class that fits the following criteria:
- To the student who has made the most significant contribution to the professional, athletic and social lives of fellow classmates.

Sharon Wells Memorial Award
The Sharon Wells Memorial Award recognizes one student from the third year class that fits the following criteria:
- To the student who demonstrates leadership skills and is dependable, reliable, compassionate and socially active in helping others.
Decided by: UPS Points and Awards Committee (consists of Class Presidents and UPS Members from all 4 years)

Dean Donald Perrier Award for Professionalism
Donald Perrier served as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy from 1986-1998. This award was created to commemorate his contribution to the practice of pharmacy, especially his effort in advocating the student role in the profession. This award will serve as a reminder to future generations of the power of students to influence and shape the profession of pharmacy. The Dean Donald Perrier Award for Professionalism is to be awarded to a fourth year pharmacy student who meets the following criteria:
- Has made the greatest contribution to organizations and councils with the goal of advancing the practice of pharmacy. This involves involvement in pharmacy and health organizations such as CAPSI, CPhA, UPS, OPA, CSHP, IHP, OCP, MTPA and others.

Pharmasave Award for Student Innovation
Innovation is the essence of Pharmasave and is what has established our success as Canada’s leader in patient-centered health and wellness programs. It is through these programs that Pharmasave’s Live Well® Pharmacists integrate professional health services like consultations, community seminars and disease management clinics into their daily practices. The Pharmasave Award for Student Innovation is to be awarded to an undergraduate pharmacy student who has demonstrated:
- Outstanding leadership qualities
- Community outreach involvement
- Innovative initiatives in the profession of pharmacy

Paul G. Halligan Spirit Award
The Paul G. Halligan Spirit Award recognizes a student that fits the following criteria:
- Is currently in first, second, third or fourth year
- Has held an official student governing position in the year of the award
- Exemplifies high leadership qualities and contributes greatly to the spirit of the student body of the Faculty
Decided by: Faculty Awards Sub-committee for the PharmD program with initial review by UPS Points and Awards Committee (consists of Class Presidents and UPS Members from all 4 years)

Conference Subsidies
The UPS also provides several conference subsidies for students:
Professional Development Week (PDW): PDW is a conference held every January by CAPSI National and is held by a different pharmacy school each year. UPS offers a total subsidy of $4,000 split amongst all attendees (amount determined by UPS each year at budget meeting). The subsidy is dependent on the student having attended enough sessions at the Conference and then submitting their stamp card to CAPSI/UPS for validation.
Pharmacy U Conference: The Pharmacy U conference is a one day conference held every February with a focus on hot topics in pharmacy and in particular the business aspect of things. UPS gets a limited number of free seats each year which it offers to students through a lottery/application process.
OPA Conference: The OPA conference is a two to three day conference held every June by the OPA and focuses on current topics and changes in the pharmacy landscape. The Faculty offers a ~$100-$200 subsidy to students through a lottery process, and this amount is determined by the Faculty each year. UPS also offers a total subsidy of $2,000 split amongst all attendees who did not receive any funding from the Faculty. This amount is determined by UPS each year at the budget meeting.
